“This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal. 1/3

I know the world is bruised and bleeding, and though it is important not to ignore its pain, it is also critical to refuse to succumb to its malevolence. Like failure, chaos contains information that can lead to knowledge—even wisdom. Like art.” - Tony Morrison 2/3

Oh wow! Make sure you read the accounts of how women journalists in Canada have been targeted. This doesn’t surprise me but it is sobering.
1/🚨Digital war on women journalists🚨. Over the last 5 years, 3,400 violations against women journalists have been documented by Women Press Freedom. 10% have involved vicious online attacks—from relentless trolling to AI-driven deepfakes. Canada (45), the US (43), and Pakistan (40) were where journalists were most affected. These attacks are not just silencing voices, they are driving women out of journalism entirely. Our post-secondary students are returning to Uptown. Look out for these road closures and redirections.
Heads up, it’s move-in weekend! University Ave and surrounding streets will be extra busy, so avoid the area if you can and please be patient. Let's give our new neighbours a warm welcome 👋 Signs will be posted, but if you want to plan your route: bit.ly/3T8Q0FX

Tonight while returning home from the drone show at Waterloo Park, I was shot in the face with a firework. Intentionally. I am a little singed, but not significantly injured. I was shot at multiple times and hit once. This firework insanity has to stop. @citywaterloo @WRPSToday
