We are proud to step forward as the first Japanese publisher to launch local operations in #India. This July, we're establishing a joint venture, Kodansha India Pvt Ltd., with Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. and IJ Kakehashi Services Pvt Ltd. Starting this autumn, we are pleased to begin sharing localized editions of hit manga titles such as Attack on Titan and BLUE LOCK directly with fans across the country. #KODANSHA

Bizarro!

If you’re a fan of Japanese music and live outside of Japan, I would be so grateful if you take a moment to read this🙏 If you’ve ever wondered why more Japanese artists don’t reach out and do shows & tours overseas, the reason is pretty simple and the main one is the hurdle of selling tickets. There is only a SMALL percentage of artists that can rely on the power of big labels/agents to promote their shows internationally. Even in Japan, selling out shows is a lot more challenging than in past years, due to people just being satisfied with digital content. And considering it costs even more to bring a tour overseas, you can imagine how many artists are willing to LOSE money by doing so, if any. It’s not just about the artist not being popular or sufficient enough, or that they don’t have the will to bring their content to fans around the world. In fact, there are so many fellow artists around me that I highly respect, telling me they wish they could do shows overseas, but know it’s not realistically possible, and as someone who yearns for the same thing, it really, really hurts inside. More importantly, it hurts most that fans around the world will often never ever be able to see a show of their favorite Japanese artist. I’m not trying to ask for pity, nor demand anything, unless this resonates with you. But if it does, and you want to know what you can do to help us reach you with our music, it’s really very simple. Please go follow artist’s socials. Please go subscribe to their Youtube channels. Please find them on Spotify. Please interact with them by commenting and letting them know you’re there to support them. Please share your passion with the people around you. AND PLEASE, don’t miss the opportunity to buy a ticket and GO to their shows, when that miraculous opportunity comes, whether it’s a solo or event stage. I am not exaggerating when I say it IS a miracle and it might never happen again. I know writing all this isn’t gonna change much, but I just hope it reminds you that every listener, every fan, every second of support matters in keeping music alive, particularly in this generation. Thanks for listening, if you made it this far🫶 Let’s keep Rocking On. NANO

Yesterday, a malicious post was found from a Japanese-owned account calling itself "Information Bureau," featuring images of Yuji Itadori from "Jujutsu Kaisen," Tanjiro Kamado from "“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”," Denji from "Chainsaw Man," and Yoichi Isagi from "Blue Lock," along with the abusive caption, "Torishima asserts that modern manga are generally garbage." Even Japanese people, who are immersed in manga and anime culture, are making such false posts and engaging in insulting behavior. These posts are being passed from influencers to influencers, and are coming from throwaway accounts with around 200 followers that have never even read manga and have no respect for the works. It makes me want to cry to think that there are so many people trying to make a quick buck off this, and I feel like the world is coming to an end. Since this is a good opportunity, I should mention that (despite rarely praising manga works in public) Mr. Torishima highly regards "Demon Slayer." He praised the dialogue, the way the protagonist is portrayed (the emphasis and the clear fact that the protagonist's goal is to save his sister), and the first page of the first volume of the manga (comics), saying it has the potential to surpass the first page of the first volume of "Dragon Ball." Personally, he doesn't like the melodrama seen in the flashback scenes before the demon dies, but Torishima, who rarely praises manga artists, highly praised the author, Koyoharu Gotouge. He generally praises "Jujutsu Kaisen," saying that it's a work that wouldn't have come about without Yoshihiro Togashi. However, he has also mentioned the skill of the artwork, the intensity of the battle scenes, and the superb cuts and panels that capture the sense of distance on several occasions on his show, and has made it clear that "I don't feature or talk about works that I don't rate highly." Despite the existence of such information, malicious posts that fail to trace the source accurately, neglect to investigate, and show no remorse whatsoever for damaging the creator's reputation, while trying to gain impressions based on rubbish information that has been circulating, are an insult not only to the work itself, but also to the readers and fans, as well as to the people involved. When we pointed this out, there was no reply, no explanation, no disclosure of the source, (of course) no apology, and the post in question was deleted. If you're going to delete it and run away, then don't spread that crap in the first place.

At #gamescomlatam, many journalists and developers asked me the same question: "Why did you come all the way to Brazil?" In response, I told them a story about a certain Brazilian band. The CD was actually the first one I ever bought when I was fourteen years old—not a Japanese band, but one from Brazil. Every time I showed the CD to a journalist or developer, they were visibly thrilled. As it turns out, that band is a legendary fixture of the Brazilian rock scene. Word of my story eventually spread through the gamescom latam press room, even reaching American journalists who reached out to ask, "Do you like this band? What about that one?" One of them even introduced me to another colleague. My point is this: networking isn't just about "games" and "business." Networking expands and deepens truly when there is a genuine respect for one another's culture.
