Summary of my time working in the Coporate VR space over the past 8 years:
Suit: "What do we do with VR? Is there any good use case?"
Me: "First you need to put on the headset."
Suit: "... but are there any use cases that are valuable?"
Me: "First you need to put on the headset."
Suit: "I don't understand?"
Me: "First you need to put on the headset."
Suit: "My spreadsheets seem to not give me any indicator there is some kind of value with VR headsets, are you sure?"
Me: "First you need to put on the headset."
* 4 Years Later *
Suit: "VR still hasn't turned into the new iPhone. What don't we understand here?"
Me: "First you need to put on the headset."
Suit: "... but is there ROI potential?"
Me: "First you need to put on the headset."
Suit: "Can it scale?"
Me: "First you need to put on the headset."
* 4 Years Later *
Suit: "Wow this Apple headset is really something. It just kind of transports your mind somewhere else and offers so many new potential ways to deal with digital content. There might something valuable here."
Me: "Now you need to put on the full body tracking in a platform with custom avatars."
... Maybe in another 4 years we can progress to the next step.

Ugh. This is PERFECT. I describe MR as a great scaffolding for VR, as frictionless onboarding for new users who are anxious about stepping into fully immersive experiences.
... this cd even be generalized into a "launcher Augment" for other games to hook into their lobbies.

The portability of Quest 3 is something else. This is a pencil case in some elastic material - perfect for carrying the headset controllers. I'll ust throw it in a bag and bring it wherever!

Yeah, I preordered a Quest 3 (of course). For gaming and productivity/@xr4work stuff it will be fabulous.
BUT. I was constantly thinking of two glaring missing features that would have sold me (and likely others) way more effectively on this whole mixed reality thing.
Looks like @ImmersedVR is pulling a BigScreen Beyond
They are getting ready to announce "Visor" which is a AR/VR HMD designed for work. Touting 4K per eye Micro-OLED displays, and a 100º FoV
They will also be targeting a custom fit type experience. Glasses users need RX inserts
XR creators! Which engine do you recommend to new XR dev learners? Would love votes from people making games as well as @xr4work stuff/apps. Reply with reasons :)
