Good exchange with the SG of the Permanent Court of Arbitration @PCA_CPA , of which Luxembourg is a member.
We reaffirmed the importance of international law & the peaceful settlement of disputes through dialogue and arbitration, not force.
Pleasure to welcome Doreen Bogdan-Martin @ITUSecGen , Secretary General of @ITU .
🇱🇺 continues to support multilateral dialogue on the governance of today’s emerging technologies, whether AI, satellite technologies, or other digital innovations shaping our future.
🇱🇺🇧🇷 Happy to welcome Mauro Vieira @ItamaratyGovBr to Luxembourg.
While different in size, geography, & population, 🇧🇷🇱🇺enjoy a longstanding partnership built on shared values & strong people-to-people ties.
Our discussions focused on: bilateral relations, EU–Brazil relations.
🇱🇺🇧🇷 Our growing Luxembourg community in Brazil is an important bridge between our countries and a key asset for strengthening bilateral relations.
The EU–Mercosur agreement is an important testament to open trade and economic opportunities.
Great discussions w/ @EUCssrMcGrath in Luxembourg.
Peace, democracy, and the rule of law are at the heart of the European project.
Safeguarding these values, including media freedom & a strong, independent civil society, is an ongoing task that requires our constant commitment.
Pleased to welcome @CRMartinezGT to 🇱🇺.
We took an important step in strengthening 🇬🇹–🇱🇺 relations with the signing of a General Cooperation Agreement.
🇱🇺 continues to deepen its development cooperation engagement in Central America, through a regional approach.
We exchanged views on regional and global developments and reaffirmed our shared commitment to multilateralism, international law, and human rights.
🇱🇺 reiterated its support for 🇬🇹’s efforts to strengthen democracy and the rule of law.
1/ It was an honour and a pleasure to welcome His Highness Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Luxembourg today. The United Arab Emirates remains an important partner, trusted friend and ally of Luxembourg. 🇱🇺🤝🇦🇪
2/ We discussed the situation in the Middle East, including Hormuz and the wider implications for regional stability. Luxembourg stands in solidarity with the UAE following the recent attacks by Iran on its territory and continues to support diplomacy as the path to lasting peace
3/ We also discussed strengthening our bilateral ties.
For 15 years, 🇱🇺 has had an embassy in Abu Dhabi, our only diplomatic representation in the region, which also helped bring our citizens safely back to 🇱🇺 during the recent crisis in the Middle East.
1/ How long will we continue to tolerate this kind of behaviour from 🇮🇱 politicians? Once again, it reflects a profound lack of respect, dignity and humanity among members of the government.
2/ Mr Ben-Gvir’s behaviour towards the passengers of the Global Sumud flotilla is unacceptable. All detainees must be treated with dignity and released without delay. We have conveyed a clear message to the Ambassador of Israel to Luxembourg to express our indignation.
3/ The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains catastrophic, and settler violence in the West Bank is alarming. Luxembourg continues to call for the EU to take appropriate measures in response to the actions of the Israeli government.
Essential exchange with the Ambassadors of the League of Arab States accredited to Luxembourg.
The Middle East is facing unprecedented instability and immense suffering among civilian populations.
In these challenging times, Luxembourg remains firmly committed to supporting peace and stability in the region.
We will continue to stand up for international law and provide humanitarian assistance to those most affected by the crisis.
