Thanks to the support from the DOE's BES Program, we are one step closer to sustainable Li-ion batteries with high energy density. Thank all the collaborators. The message is to shift attention to anions--future protagonists in battery design.

Our work supported by NSF on an electrolyte for Zn batteries was selected as a cover article by Nature Sustainability. The study reports strategies to inhibit the hydrogen evolution of the electrolyte by thermodynamic and kinetic approaches.
