Why is it acceptable to give
@JDMahama a second chance after a full presidency, but unfair to give
@MBawumia a first chance?
JDM was President. We saw his record. The economy collapsed into an IMF bailout, dumsor crippled the country, and he still came back for another shot. Yet DMB, who has never been President, is being judged as if he already failed in that role. That is simply not fair.
A Vice President’s job is to advise and support the President, not to single handedly run the economy. Even within that role, DMB left visible footprints, digitisation, financial inclusion, paperless systems, and institutional reforms that will outlive any government. You may disagree with the politics, but the work is there.
So how do we say JDM deserves redemption, but DMB doesn’t deserve opportunity? One man has already had his turn at the top. The other has not. If fairness means anything, then DMB deserves the same chance to be judged on his own presidency, not on someone else’s.
Knowledgeable. Calm. Solid. Peaceful. Policy driven.
These are qualities we say we want in a leader.
If we can forgive failure, we should at least allow potential.
