ALT Takeaways from Workshop on Developing Research Agenda
Based on experiences shared by all participants, combined with the knowledge on FPAR, together we identified and agreed on values that will be carried out during the research, such as:
Ensure the accessibility of research to activists without research background.
Action is as important as part process (i.e. we capacitate the community members or activists) and outcome (i.e. research informs advocacy and program policy).
Research participants as co-owner, co-author and co-creator of knowledge; and also empowering community as the whistle blower and dissemination of research.
Open opportunity to be inclusive in determining research (methods e.g. story-telling, visual art, photo).
ALT During the workshop, the participants were grouped based on their country to discuss research agenda, using the steps and guidance that Lorna shared. It was followed by mutual learning session in which participants collectively reviewed, enriched and sharpened each other's agendas and ideas.
ALT These workshop series are only the beginning. In the next two years, GALANG, JTID, Arco Iris, Legal Dignity and ASC will continue the process in national level: from sharing all the learnings and knowledge on FPAR with community members, conducting feminist participatory research, and producing the evidence that will be used for regional advocacy works.
