21 years ago today, TEKKEN 5 was released on PlayStation 2 in Japan 🇯🇵
After Tekken 4, this was Tekken going back to its roots. Infinite stages returned, the uneven terrain was gone, the roster was loaded with favourites, and the game just felt right again. Still favoured by many as one of the best entries in the series.
A few things that made Tekken 5 unique:
🔸The first Tekken with a customization system and data card saving in arcades
🔸First game with real-time story interludes and conversations with sub-bosses before and after fights
🔸The last Tekken where characters had to be unlocked through playing the game.
🔸Included the Arcade versions of TEKKEN 1, 2 and 3
🔸Jinpachi Mishima was never meant to be playable.
🔸Lee, Julia and Bryan were starter characters
What are your memories of playing TEKKEN 5?
