Ian wasn’t that different from Bear.
Despite believing she was spiraling mentally, Bear was taking advantage of her, and evidence of self-harm, Ian never really attempted to get Nikki help. He was always more focused on getting Bear to tell him how he got Nikki to like him back.

Basically, he didn’t care about Nikki as much as his querying implied.
What DID differentiate them tho, was Ian not being as insecure. He told Nikki how he felt, which led to them having a sexual relationship. Thus, he didn’t need a wish maker to get what he wanted from her.

One of things I haven’t seen mentioned about #Obsession, is the final wish.
My headcanon: Bear didn’t actually take enough pills to die, but real Nikki broke through for a second and wished to be free of Bear’s wish, so he died anyway.

I was a little confused when this happened, but am now thinking the, “I love you.” trigger a rapid swing between both consciouses.
Nikki wanted to attack him, so “Nikki” dragged her backward and told him not to be scared, then Nikki ran at him, but“Nikki” regained control.

I’m starting to think y’all believe the laughs were at Nikki’s expense, and not at how stupid the situations were, solely bcuz Bear is a narcissistic dumbass.
“Nikki” had at least 5 funny scenes, purely bcuz Bear was delusional as hell and refused to accept he fucked up.
I finally saw Obsession and the amount of people I heard laugh during the movie actually disturbed me.

Bear felt entitled to Nikki’s love, and didn’t care how he got it.
He didn’t heed the sales lady’s warning, didn’t try to reverse the spell, didn’t care about her health/hygiene, didn’t tell their concerned friends what was going on, and again, r*ped her first chance he got.

reading the obsession screenplay also let me know that bear was indeed FULLY aware that nikki was not herself while he was engaging sexually with her yet he stills rapes her repeatedly including after the “I CAN BE NIKKI” scene which is FUCKING INSANE??
