I haven’t looked at any Astros media…but I wonder how stretched out Hunter Brown is upon his return tonight….hopefully he’s only going 4 or 5 innings if the Tigers can make him work. A guy like Gleyber is missed in spots like this.

It seemed like the biggest thing ever to a 7-yr old. It dominated the TV channels we had (there were only 7 where I was and two were Canadian). The local newspaper had articles about it for many days leaving up to it. Radio guys talked about it. Fireworks everywhere. Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops on TV. The tall ships in east coast harbors. My town had its biggest Independence Day celebration I can ever recall. A new ice rink called the Bicentennial Arena was christened. My baseball team marched in the parade. I was stung by a bee on the back of the neck walking home from the parade. This wasn’t celebrated. The country seemed united over the Bicentennial. I have doubts we’ll feel that way on 250.

Yeah…I’ve long thought there are bigger fish to fry to get the Tigers’ offense to operate more consistently than worrying about Jahmai Jones….but I think a 2-40 stretch is enough to warrant a change no matter what else needs doing. Hao Yu Lee could take those at-bats. He might hit .210 instead of .130. 😆 Wenceel Perez had a long streak last year too…like 0-38 or something…Hinch stuck with him and has been rewarded for his faith this year by Perez hitting .180! Uhhhhh….never mind .

When you fell backwards in your wind up….Why are you tilting your head back so far. Weird Dave: Coach said “bend the back”. Me: I think he means on your follow through…not your windup. Two things on Max Clark as I saw him being discussed… 1. If he had chosen college he would be in this year’s draft and at least two years away. So it’s perfectly fine if he’s in Triple-A and not completely ready for MLB right now. 2. I think it’s Jerry M who mentioned this…I apologize if it was someone else…but Clark is like 5-yrs younger than the average guy in Triple-A. He’s still maturing…it’s really not a mark against him he didn’t develop quite as fast as McG.

Spending the summer with my son Dashiel as he recuperates from surgery has allowed me to for shopping for Dash’s birthday in two weeks. I took the time to add to his “World’s Greatest Baseball Jersey Collection”. I got him the Winston-Salem Dash which seemed appropriate and a Fayetteville Woodpeckers jersey that might be a tad inappropriate. 😂 Ordered today:

Clearing it up slightly…I’m not saying they must move Dingler out from behind the plate someday…certainly no time soon. But you can’t tell me there isn’t a plausible scenario where it makes sense. Catchers break down. Moving him in conjunction with other moves might make sense…someday. It’s also possible we’re watching the best three months of offense of Dillon Dingler’s career and the idea never comes up again.
