I'm a huge Crazy Taxi fan, and so glad to see the trailer for the new one, however I have an interesting related story to share. For a time I worked at SEGA, and we pitched and prototyped a game we called... Crazy Taxi: World Tour. In 2009. (1/10)

This was one of many new game concepts pitched, I think the studio eventually ended up doing an Olympics game, but it was a lot of fun playing around briefly in the Crazy Taxi world, even if just conceptually. (9/10)

📣FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ORLANDO, FL - We are thrilled to announce the addition of former PAX, E3, DreamHack Organizer And Industry Pioneer Guy "Yug" Blomberg @YugSTAR To our leadership team. Press release and full statement link below 🔗👇 “This career path has taken me all over the world, and given me such wonderful opportunities and experiences, not to mention the tangible way I’ve been able to help folks from the games industry directly at all the various shows. I thought I'd seen just about every way in which gaming can be celebrated - and then I went to a gaming event inside a theme park. It’s a true, genuine, honest to god community gaming event by creators for creators and those who follow them. This presents incredible opportunities to build a strong industry component and facilitate networking opportunities. For the first time in a while, I’m genuinely excited about it – I feel this is going to be FUN.” ~ Guy

I'm not a Destiny player, but I respect the hell out of the community for creating and growing this event. That said, @GCXEvent is already so much more, and I believe in the coming years will be an important beat on the global gaming calendar for multiple communities, indie devs, game launches, creator b2b, and frankly all my burnt out game industry friends who are looking for a unique vacation getaway in a theme park!
GCX, while having Destiny in its DNA… hasn’t been a Destiny event really since 2018. Every year our roster of studios and communities grows. We love our Destiny roots but the event has grown far beyond them. We intend to celebrate those roots this year but yea… this perception is VERY dated

One year after Destiny first dropped, so did we. What started as a gathering place for Guardians became something far greater than any of us expected. GCX was born out of a love for this universe — not just the raids, the lore, or the loot — but the community that formed around all of it. For so many of us, Destiny didn't just give us something to play. It gave us something to build on. It's where countless creators found their voice, where streamers discovered their audience, and where friendships were forged that had nothing to do with light levels and everything to do with what happens when people chase something together. Today, Bungie announced that active development on Destiny 2 is coming to an end. You can read their full statement via the link below. Every end deserves to be honored. And we rarely get the chance to celebrate a life while it still matters. This July, we want to give this community exactly that. GCX cordially invites you to Destiny: A Celebration of Game Life. Join us at Universal Orlando Resort for something we've been quietly hoping we'd never need — and now know we need more than ever. We're planning a dedicated Destiny celebration at Main Stage: an SRL Tournament, a retrospective spanning 12 years of memories, and some very special guests who helped shape what this game and this community became. More details are coming soon, but know this — we're building it for you, the people who were there from the beginning, and for everyone who found their way to this community somewhere along the journey. One last ride, Guardians. We'll see you in Orlando. Tickets below. Rise up...and remember — The GCX Team #GCX2026 #GCX2026ForTheLight
Read the full blog at bung.ie/d2_may_21_2026 For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.
