Excited to attend @acm_chi for the first time! One line of my work explores how generative AI shapes human intelligence and knowledge flow, using large-scale human–AI interaction data (e.g., chat logs) for empirical analysis. I’m excited to connect with like minded researchers.
For those AI researchers who have recently (re)entered the job market, just a reminder that our team— AI Interaction and Learning at Microsoft Research Redmond—is currently hiring multiple ML/AI researchers.

Promises about how AI will change work are cheap. What does the actual data say?
We measured which work activities people use AI for, how successful they are, and which jobs do those tasks. 🧵1/8

More than five years in the making. Key finding: The impact of new research steeply declines the further a researcher moves from their previous work.
Conventional wisdom says interdisciplinary research is valuable but harder to get through peer review (need to please diverse reviewers, etc).
In new @PNASNews paper, @SidneyXiang @DanielMRomero and I partnered with @IOPPublishing to test this wisdom and add nuance

How do scientists choose which topic to study? Studies of this are dispersed across fields, and it's surprisingly hard to find a review. Fortunately @SidneyXiang has written a fantastic one, focusing on literature in economics and sociology
