Echoes of the depths While working on this, I imagined a top-down RPG where this track plays on loop in the background as you wander through endless mazes.

SFX Tip An unusual way to create ambient sounds. Set up a feedback loop with a delay and a modulator. Combine the sound with another sound using convolution—it doesn’t have to be reverb. Spend hours tweaking the knobs and record everything. Cut out the best bits for later use.

Hello! I make music. I'll try to put everything in one thread so it's easy to find them.

Some strange harmonies. Odd portal.

Omnisphere 3 is really tempting. The problem is that I’d have to buy a new computer and switch to at least Win10. My music computer has been the same since 2016 (Win7) and still happy with it. It’s rarely a case of “just buy it” if you don’t have a habit of staying up to date.

Is perfect pitch always tied to the 12-tone equal temperament system with a reference pitch of 440 Hz? Is there anyone anywhere in the world who can accurately identify 11-EDO tuning and to whom equal temperament music sounds out of tune, except perhaps for a single note?

The b11 is rarely suggested for chords. In my opinion, it is useful if the root chord lacks a third. LydMaj7 (C, F#, G, B), Phryg7 (C, Db, G, Bb), and Locr7 (C, Db, Gb, Bb) could be examples of chords where “add b11” would mean adding the note E to the next octave.

Cmaj7#11, C7b9, and C7b5b9 are essentially the same, but the chord notation used in the post above uses the “add b11” notation as a guide for how the E note should be placed within the chord structure. You also don’t need to add the “omit3” notation if you leave out the E note.

It’s also useful if you want to keep the root chord, such as Cmaj7sus2 or Cmaj7sus4 (and then add b11). It has a different color than if you would place the third on the root chord and then add 9 or add 11.

Actually, that could be an interesting direction for the project. Create all the music by processing the bird sounds. There’s so much potential there.
"Whats your favourite music genre?" "It's complicated"

I was about to compare the renewing body to Theseus’s ship… but is that even valid when the paradox questions the whole idea of sameness? What is being compared? *confused* What next — are they both going to sink in the _same_ river?

Few perform polyrhythms like Tigran.

Are VST plugins still needed for anything other than unique sounds? AI can turn poor sounds into good, so the composition&arrangement could be done using MIDI sounds that are later replaced. Does it matter whether the final sound source is VST or AI(trained with licensed data)?

I was about to make some music today, and then I noticed, "Oh, Rick Beato has posted an interview with Tigran Hamasyan." Maybe I won't make any music today.

Stanley Jordan was right when he said that a guitar with all-fourths tuning “simplifies the fretboard”. I think I'll use this for a while, at least.

In video games, the music for boss battles should be bossa nova. (Not a real opinion)

Some japanese DTMer occasionally produce an interesting genre known as "hi-tech," which incorporates elements of complextro, but when I search for "hi-tech" on YouTube, I often find fast psytrance, which I'm not into. Is there a more specific name for this (japanese) hi-tech?
