In the game, social approval is not a win condition any more than being handsome is. Even game rules that penalize "uncool" play (negative penalty, staling, etc.) don't force automatic losses. You still have to be defeated.
But say they added some AI-powered "cool play" meter that must fill up before you can win. How much would it fill up for the player getting hit by the same thing over and over? Would it give it to the guy who was throw looped 6 times over the one who did it?
And if cool wins are assessed by humans, then declaring winners would be fraught with politics and preferences even if it isn't the intention. Being handsome would matter (both positively and negatively), and competitive integrity would tank. The beauty of competitive gaming is that its judges are coded to minimize human bias. It doesn't give a fuck that you're from Pakistan. This is the engine that powers the storylines we get from these games.
But if you want coolness competitions, then you're in luck. Popularity contests are everywhere and rule life. This very platform rewards the shit out of that. And even fighting games have coolness contests. Check out the combo music video contest to be held at
@FrostyFaustings. It even allows audience votes to count.
