So where is everyone heading to? I'm not sure that I have the attention span to maintain several active accounts on several different services (including special-themed mastodon instances)

I forgot I had a sweet setup for previews of new articles on my blog. (Heck I almost forgot I had a blog.) Gonna have to write *that* up somewhere as well at some point XD
The real-life Laundry, finally located
Occasionally I regret never knocking on the door of this place, South London’s most mysterious shop.
obscuring that you're passing an unknown (but likely large) number of values as arguments down the stack by storing them adhoc in a single State argument (a map) does NOT count as self-documenting code jesus wept

I don't care that it's a local function calling a local function, if I use your library as a dependency, I still need to be able to read it and understand what it does

One thing that annoys me about Erlang so far is the tendency to treat state as an opaque, type-less blob passed through a ton of disparate functions

"What's the problem? Write an integration test." Scale. Scale is the problem. Single-function tests are much faster than integration tests. Also, again, familiarity with the program: how do I know what other dependencies it will spin up, or require?

This thread brought to you by "how do I generate a correctly initialised state so that I can iterate on a function design in shell?" </grumble>

Remote calls are good, but f2f friend chats are better, so if you: 1. live in East London, pref. south of Stratford 2. are careful about covid (eg. avoid public spaces, public transport) ...and want to hang out (and potentially keep doing so if it's fun), drop me a DM
"both 'behavior' and 'behaviour' are accepted by the Erlang compiler"

6 used to be my standard programming position back when I worked in an office that had a dark, quiet corner with armchairs and needed solo focus time. Good days. 😢 x.com/MayaElious/status/1284…

Do I know anyone who's camped around London? Thinking of feasibility of walking the Capital Ring Walk with a backpack. (I do know you can get a fine for camping in the wild, not wild about camping in people's gardens in the current situation.)
