Dear AV Manufacturers: As (of course) more and more pieces of equipment are added to the network, I encourage you to add some sort of small LCD/LED screen with the ability to display the current IP Address Settings. That would really help servicing/supporting old systems

On Thursday afternoon, while waiting for my flight from Chicago to DSM, I saw a ton of West Virginia athletes waiting at my gate. I asked one of them "What sport?" He replied "Wrestling"
I chuckled: "Good Luck!"
Since I know I have many contacts on here that expand far beyond the MN area, I wanted to express that I know many people who have tried to post pictures and videos of things happening in Minneapolis that social media platforms have been taking down, claiming various reasons.
Depends on the client. Some clients want absolutely no reoccurring expenses. They want it installed, and then never have to think about it. Others see the value in having some monitoring and "license" based solutions for their needs #AVintheAM
Communication: What to say to clients vs what/how to talk to people within your organization
The importance of Networking
The importance of API's and devices' ability to work together
Not to be scared of picking up the phone and CALLING someone #AVintheAM
Q4 What skills should AV training programs be teaching today that they still aren’t? If someone were entering AV in 2026, what 3 skills should they invest in first? #AVinTheAm#AVtweeps
I feel that more "upper management" people often forget the TCO, and just look at the number on the page. Or even worse, forget about the original number invested in a space, and think the new solution should be something else #AVintheAM
Soft skills are very important, but also knowing where one's tech knowledge ends, and when to bring in an SME. I've recently encountered a project where the main, "general" building AV Designer designed a specialty system that didn't do the main need #AVinTheAM
Q2 Do soft skills like listening, translation, and expectation-setting now outperform technical certifications? If so, what job do these and other softskills outshine the traditional check-the-box resume? #AVinTheAM#AVtweeps
Unfortunately, many clients will start with generalists, but when a specialty-space becomes part of the conversation, I've seen many of them not know when to bring in a specialist. Systems don't always function well, and clients end up VERY unhappy #AVintheAM

Look at this! I'm up for an award, but I need your help! I am one of the top people in the running for AV Nation's AV Professional of the year! My category is at the end of the whole thing, but the voting link is here: avnation.tv/avnation-best-of…
A double-standard: An ICE agent is justified killing a driver in "self defense", but yet ICE agents are constantly hitting people standing in front of them who aren't threatening.
HP released this at #CES2026hp.com/us-en/desktops/busine… Seems like a no-brainer now that I think about it. How many times do you see a small form-factor PC, keyboard, mouse and monitor on some mounted contraption. This just makes everything simpler!
FYI: Not all CATx cables are used for networking! Sometimes terminating them into a patch panel, then patching it to the correct device doesn't always work for every type of connection!
I feel that we run into issues whenever a client has someone else pull cabling for us, and terminates stuff to patch panels. Some point-to-point extenders don't want to work unless it's a single cable. Many hours of troubleshooting devices when it was poor cable terminating

Dear @rAVePubs, If I'm logged into LAVNCH, and have registered many times for various sessions over the years, why do you still make me fill out all of the information each time I want to register for the next event?
