THIS SHIT CORNY AF, YOU ALL HAVE A VERY SOFT VISION OF ART, YOU CAN MAKE THE MUSIC IN YOUR IMAGE, YOU CAN CREATE THE DIVINE FROM WHOLE CLOTH AND YOU'RE OUT HERE RECYCLING POP HITS GET FUCKING REAL
just realized the current dubstep meta is just a reverse chainsmokers set form 2017. instead of the chainsmokers playing their own pop hits into other peoples dubstep drops, DJs are just playing other people’s pop hits into their own dubstep drops

I mean yeah generally the rapper crowds create a inhospitable environment for everyone. The whole demographic is a liability, and I say that as someone who fucking loves rap music.
I’ve seen this video from Rolling Loud last weekend floating around, and it feels like a good time to share a conversation I had last year. I was talking with a notable festival promoter last fall who directly told me they had largely stopped booking rap and hip-hop acts for one major reason: insurance. According to them, many insurance companies were dramatically increasing premiums whenever those artists were on the lineup because they viewed the associated crowd risk as “significantly higher” than other genres of music. Those aren’t my words…that was directly from someone dealing with (and paying for) the logistics insurance coverage of events. So if you start seeing certain artists slowly disappear from mixed-genre festivals or specific markets, situations like the above are absolutely part of the equation whether people realize it or not.

i think me making visuals taught me to be even more patient with the musicmaking process. It's def a lot harder to be patient with the auditory medium

I think I've completed working on my audio-visual ID mix I can't tell if I'm gratified or burnt out -but I know for sure I'll look back on it in a year and be glad that I did it.

while i think it's nice to brainstorm with ChatGPT, i also think the time better spent is doing the thing you actually need to do. ChatGPT is like designed to give you a dopamine hit on it's every response -keeping you hooked
