Really is worth listening to the Michael Healy-Rae interview on @radiokerry about how/why he felt he had to leave gov't - Haven't heard something as brutal about a sibling and supposed political ally, in well forever. radiokerry.ie/podcasts/kerry…

RTÉ has become a cheap way for TDs to try and make their name - what's the point of Sinead Gibney asking questions of Adrian Lynch about outsourcing if she won't let him answer.

The minister and CNaM can take a run and jump if they think this is a runner.
Minister Patrick O'Donovan has said he will be asking Coimisiún na Meán to review RTÉ and others' coverage of the fuel protests. He suggested that coverage was "lopsided" in favour of the protest and that "carte blanche was given to some people". jrnl.ie/7011275t

@CNaM_ie have to *publicly* state that not only will they not look into this but it is not their role to do so.

Trump Says Gas Prices Might Not Drop by Midterms. - Not quite the 'drop like a stone' comments he gave the Irish press corp when we visited last month. Imagine the protests if the price of fuel is still this high for another six months? nytimes.com/2026/04/12/us/po…

I was told on Friday the gov was still holding the line on carbon tax - now they've caved on it. That smacks to me of a mother of all rows internally.

The TV show The Upload coming true in real life...
Sam Altman has admitted he is on a waitlist for a procedure that would digitize his brain. The procedure would kill him. He considers this an acceptable trade for digital immortality. This is the person making decisions about the future of artificial intelligence for hundreds of millions of users. A man who views ending his own biological life as a reasonable step toward uploading his consciousness to the cloud. These are not the priorities of a stable leader.

Asked broadly the same questions of SF yesterday - crickets. Comment from Dundalk SF TD Ruairi O'Murchu though...
The chair of Drogheda United, Sinn Féin TD Joanna Byrne, declined to respond to questions about the incident. She declined to say whether she witnessed Drogheda supporters throwing flares onto the field or if she would help gardai with their inquiries.

Humiliating climbdown by a pompous, underachieving institution. How was a 4-week ban on a BBC journalist imposed without somebody raising a red flag about the negative publicity irishnews.com/news/northern-…

The Larry Murrin story is one big signal to figures in the private sector to simply not bother engaging with the public sector unless absolutely necessary.

Man is clearly a multi multi millionaire and has run a successful business for decades and gets dragged through the mud for what? To appease the IFA? Who got the Mercosur trade deal vote they wanted from the gov't and the nitrates directive.

The PfG *did not* commit to voting against the Mercosur trade deal come what may. It is worded very carefully. It states: "Work with like-minded EU countries to stand up for Irish farmers and defend our interests in opposing the current Mercosur trade deal."
