most of my life i don’t hang out with gamers. only recently. im always shocked how many gamers i meet who dont read books, listen to music, watch a variety of films, or even TV. learning these other mediums enriches my appreciation for games but also helps me understand its limits. for example, i think most games writing on paper is bad compared to other media. but how games incorporate play into narrative can elevate the form. it’s what makes your favorite games of all time so special beyond other forms of art.
