Actually, its good that mega corporation can just afford to buy up smaller companies and do whatever they want. It breeds competition and creates a suuuuper healthy market.

To be honest I don't believe this is the definitive end of the Destiny franchise. The IP is too big for Sony to just throw away for good. I believe it will carry on eventually in some shape or form, whether that be a new game... or something else entirely.
