A lakeside fire might seem like a good idea, but it can quickly go wrong. With the warm, dry weather, wildfires are more likely to happen. Avoid open flames in rural areas. If you spot a wildfire, call 999 immediately.

What would mountain rescue do?
Carry a conventional map and compass AS WELL AS any navigation apps or maps on your phone. And practice using the traditional tools regularly.
It’s always best to have a safety net for navigation that doesn’t rely on battery power, esp when cold.
