When we landed, I asked his origin and he said Delta. I asked his village and he mentioned my mom's village. I told him I was from there. He asked my maiden name and I told him. His eyes lit up in familiarity. I asked his family name and he told me. I told him my mom would know his family because they all know themselves. I called my mom and told her somebody wanted to greet her. It didn't take her 2 mins to identify his family. Ladies and Gentlemen, I've been gisting with my second cousin all through the flight. I have met a lot of people that voted BAT the last time who will be voting Peter Obi next year. I have also met a lot of first timers and people who didn’t vote last time that will vote this time because they are voting for Peter Obi. Their reason is that BAT has been an incompetent failure after all his promises and shouting “Emi Lokan” in 2023 and they consider Peter Obi the best and only credible option. The African diaspora needs to stop treating this as just another online debate. If South Africa wants to normalise the mistreatment, humiliation and scapegoating of other Africans, then Africans outside South Africa should respond economically and culturally. Stop watching South African films and shows. Stop buying South African wine. Stop buying South African products. Stop promoting South African tourism. Stop rewarding a country that treats vulnerable Africans as disposable while still expecting African solidarity, African markets and African cultural support. This is not hatred of ordinary South Africans. It is a refusal to support a system and a social climate that dehumanises other Africans while calling it patriotism. If African lives matter, then African money, attention and cultural support should also matter. At this point, it is a moral obligation! I for one, I am done!
