As we enter the third week of the Associates Drive, we've reached 68% of our fundraising goal thanks to the generosity of our supporters.

Many children with disabilities need extra support to succeed in school. Special Education Services can provide accommodations, therapies, and individualized support, but understanding the process and your rights can be overwhelming. Legal Services assists parents with requesting evaluations, reviewing IEPs, addressing school noncompliance, and representing families in meetings, complaints, mediations, and due process hearings when necessary. These services are provided at no cost to eligible families.

Legal aid organizations are a lifeline for millions of Americans each year. They stand up for people in crisis and ensure fair treatment under the law – including advocating for children who are being denied access to the special education services they need to succeed.
When a kindergartener with autism was at risk of being placed in a more restrictive classroom, his mother turned to Legal Services for help. Thanks to our advocacy, the school district agreed to provide a paraprofessional so he could remain in general education—where he continues to learn and thrive alongside his peers.
This is why #LSCMatters – because every child deserves a fair chance – and every family deserves to be heard.

Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Blake M. Wallace earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University. Before pursuing law, he worked as a high school teacher and coached middle school football and basketball. Blake later moved to Miami to attend the University of Miami School of Law. We’re excited to have him on our team and looking forward to the impact he’ll make!

Consumer debt can affect every aspect of a person’s life, from their financial stability to their ability to provide for their family. For many people, debt is not the result of irresponsible spending, but of unexpected hardships such as medical bills, car repairs, job loss, or other life emergencies.
When debt becomes unmanageable, creditors may file lawsuits, obtain judgments, and pursue collection efforts that can include wage or bank account garnishments.
Legal Services of Greater Miami helps individuals facing consumer debt lawsuits, garnishments, and overwhelming financial burdens through legal representation, negotiation, and bankruptcy assistance.
