Four drama producers doesn't = an industry. Of course, some won't touch it, but #DoctorWho has been a huge hit around the world since 2005, it's not toxic IP, it's IP ready for relaunching and production companies will be hugely tempted by that.

this show isn’t beyond saving because there’s infinite possibilities with it but it definitely does need a break and a fresh start, not a reboot, but just a new version of the 2005 fresh start where time has passed, things have changed and there’s a new doctor and stuff
‘DOCTOR WHO’ potentially won't return until 2028 at the earliest. (Source: Deadline)

This could easily be resolved in a 5 minute webisode before any new series. Destiny of the Daleks got this out of its system pretty quickly with Romana just cycling through faces.
They seriously did this and just ran away.

a heartbreaking if expected decision with near ceaseless fan vitriol likely stoked by agents that don’t want a show like Doctor Who to exist, the digital footprint of negativity is going to make the show a hard sell to A-list networks and streamers to produce

No, Doctor Who has not been cancelled. “Putting out to tender” has happened to many BBC programmes. It is giving the opportunity for the show to a new production team, execs and writers to give it a go.

Ultimately, it’s good news to secure the show's future. 🙏 As for the RTD2 era, it had more hits than misses for me and was enjoyable and creative (no two stories were the same in genre or tone). I’m not dancing on the ceiling like some fans… Interesting times ahead! 🌟

Already sick of many describing this as another Wilderness era. The melodrama is far too much. Let's just see what happens, it's a huge property! 🔥

Andy Burnham says he "can't judge" if the Israeli military's crimes in Gaza are a genocide. The experts already have. A UN commission, the International Association of Genocide Scholars, and leading rights orgs all agree: it's genocide. Andy, why won't you call it what it is?

Watched the 4K restoration of the Dr Who movie last night and it looked incredible. As for the story, I just kept thinking about how bizarre this must have been as an introduction to the show. There’s still a charm to it and it’s definitely an enjoyable romp. McGann sells it!

The local party decides??? This is just performative nonsense that puts enormous pressure on them to change tack. They're having a hustings, let them get on with it. We have to field a candidate, it's just whether the kitchen sink needs to be chucked at it.
🟢 EXCL: Senior Green Party figures have urged Zack Polanski to consider stepping aside for Andy Burnham in the Makerfield by-election if the Greater Manchester mayor commits to introducing proportional representation Green councillors, activists and former party leaders have signed a joint statement warning that the party should approach the contest with “trepidation” The letter, whose signatories include Jonathan Bartley, who led the party between 2016 and 2018, and Rupert Read, a former Green councillor and author, says that Burnham’s election presents a “unique opportunity” to secure reform “In all reality this is not a seat Greens can win. It will be a straight fight between Labour and Reform. But it’s no ordinary by-election. Labour’s candidate, Andy Burnham, is looking to return to Westminster to lead in parliament.” “If Burnham will commit to backing proportional representation for the next general Labour election manifesto so that it is in place by the election after next, then on this unique occasion we don’t think Greens should run a full campaign against him,” the letter says Full read in @thetimes 👇 thetimes.com/article/16d6ba6…

"If Burnham will commit to backing proportional representation for the next general Labour election manifesto so that it is in place by the election after next..." Assuming Labour would honour the commitment *and* assuming they'll win the next general election is just unserious

How do “Senior Green Party figures” - especially previous leaders - not understand it’s not up to Zack ffs.

The fact that the Green Party is the only one standing with trans people now is so devastating but I'm proud of them for not wavering.
Today my heart is with our trans community, treated so abysmally in this country. Draft guidance means trans people are barred from services they could previously access & inclusive service providers will be at legal risk. Green Party statement: greenparty.org.uk/2026/05/22…

Labour had a super majority less than 2 years ago and are already set to lose the next election to a party that didn’t exist 3 years ago. But somehow that’s the fault of the Greens for standing in a by election in Wigan 🤣
Wooppeee for them. They can perhaps carry on their tradition of taking seats from Labour or splitting the progressive vote whilst Reform storm ahead.
