♻️ Progressive rehabilitation is a critical part of the aggregate lifecycle. As each phase of extraction is completed, land is restored while operations continue elsewhere on site. This approach demonstrates how extraction can be temporary, with rehabilitation happening in parallel. It also reflects how aggregate producers act as responsible stewards of the land — delivering benefits for both the environment and their operations. 🔗 Click here to learn more about the rehabilitation of an aggregate site: ossga.com/multimedia/2026-03…

Pits and quarries account for less than 2% of Ontario’s total permitted water taking. 💧@_OSSGA highlights this figure to provide broader context around industrial water use across the province. 📊 Aggregate operations operate within regulated permitting systems that include monitoring, reporting, and environmental review requirements. 📄 Understanding scale and context is important when discussing water use and infrastructure materials. 🧠 Provincial data helps separate assumptions from measurable resource management realities. 📚 #OSSGA #WaterFacts #WaterManagement #OntarioWater #CBM

🌾 From gravel pit to agricultural land. The Miller Group began agricultural rehabilitation at their Boyington Pit 1 in summer 2025. Subsoil was used to reshape the landscape, while imported soil and stored topsoil created a strong growing base. Then the site was graded, cultivated and seeded with winter wheat in September 2025. With a full harvest planned for 2026, this completes the cycle of returning the land to productive use. ✅ Another great example of land stewardship through progressive rehabilitation. 🚛 The impact of close-to-market aggregate is huge! Every extra kilometre aggregate trucks in Ontario travel means 7,000 extra tonnes of GHGs in the atmosphere and an extra 2.6 million litres of diesel fuel used. ♻️ If we want to protect the environment, we nee to allow aggregate close to where its needed.
