4/ Worth noting: throughout the entire Zcash incident, Sapling transactions kept running normally. The bug was Orchard-specific. The turnstile accounting confirmed no unauthorized value creation across any pool.

3/ PIVX doesn’t use Orchard. Or Halo2. PIVX’s SHIELD protocol is built on Sapling zk-SNARKs, customized for Proof-of-Stake. Different circuit, different proving system, zero exposure to this class of bug.

2/ The bug lived in Orchard’s zk-SNARK circuit (Halo2), active since May 2022. It could have allowed undetectable counterfeit ZEC inside the Orchard pool via invalid state transitions. No exploit occurred. Supply stayed intact. The Zcash team responded fast and well.
