1/ The $POWER token crash wasn't just a dump. It was a masterclass in retail extraction. I call this the "Walled Garden Short Squeeze & Funding Rate Vampire." 🧛‍♂️ Here is the step-by-step autopsy of how they engineered the manipulation and harvested retail liquidity. 👇 2/ Phase 1: The Walled Garden 🧱The MM corners the circulating supply and works to disable cross-exchange deposits/withdrawals. Arbitrage is dead. It becomes a single-player game. The MM now has absolute pricing power because no outside supply can enter to crash the party. 3/ Phase 2: The Order Book Vacuum 🕳️With supply locked down, the MM pulls their limit sell orders. Look at the spot depth—it took mere hundreds of dollars to artificially pump the price by 2%. They can paint the chart and dictate the Index Price with virtually zero capital cost. 4/ Phase 3: Weaponizing Funding Rates 🩸This is the psychological trap. Retail sees $POWER pumping, realizes it has zero fundamental value, and piles into highly-leveraged Shorts on Perps. This drives the Perp price way below the Spot Index, triggering extreme negative Funding Rates. 5/ The MM simply takes the other side and goes Long on Perps. Because they control the artificially high Spot price, they sit back and collect exorbitant funding fees directly from the pockets of retail shorts. They bleed accounts dry without the price even needing to move. 💸 6/ Phase 4: The Kill Shot 🎯Eventually, the MM needs to cash out their actual Spot bags. But there are no organic buyers. They need forced exit liquidity. They check the liquidation heat map, see where retail stops are clustered, and execute a tiny, high-speed spot market buy. 7/ Phase 5: The Dump 📉This artificial "wick" triggers a massive cascade of short liquidations. Since a short liquidation is a forced market buy, millions in volume suddenly floods in. The MM happily dumps their Spot bags into this artificially created frenzy, cashing out at the top. 8/ The Aftermath 🪦The blood bags are empty. Funding normalizes. The artificial bid support in the spot market is pulled. Gravity takes over, and the token goes into freefall. Bought cheap → pumped for pennies → farmed your funding fees → used your liquidations as exit liquidity. 9/ The lesson? In crypto, being fundamentally "right" about a token being overvalued doesn't mean you won't get mechanically liquidated. Stop shorting illiquid walled gardens. Stay safe out there. 🤝

I have dream… that one day we will live a world where games will not be judged by the tools used to create them, but by the content of their gameplay.

I found after a few days Claude Sonnet 4.5 gets stuck a lot. I switched to Claude Opus 4.5, instantly miles better. Got unstuck very quickly. Refactored with half-decent looking code. Costs 66% more but it pretty much nails each the prompt first go with minimal failures.

Whether you cancel a game or shake things up because it's not sustainable, how else can you do it other than drop a bombshell? There's never a right time. Anyway, Arcade is coming and it's super cosy.

We're moving Moonfrost to Steam because it should have been a premium cosy game all along. When we started out we thought making a high-end Stardew like game would be good for web3 and would bring traditional gamers over. That assumption was wrong. The 2 don't mix.

We have a new spin-off game almost ready and I wanted to share my current thoughts on web3 gaming: The old approach to play-to-earn stopped working quite some time ago. It's inflationary and the emissions from earning are pure sell pressure and the tokens just go down. Pretty much all game tokens launched in 2025 have been a disaster. The only way to have a sustainable economy is to have players spending more than the total emissions. Risk-to-earn (R2E) solves this problem. It's not a new model, Poker is R2E. I see the opportunity in crypto is to make a new class of R2R games that aren't just the traditional casino games. R2E games like Poker are winner takes all, our approach is to spread it out, have more winners... For example, imagine a game where there's 10 players, each pay $1 to enter, the prize pool is $10. There's not 1 prize but many smaller ones (minimum prize $0.01). Players compete to get the prizes, whether by skill or luck or a bit of both. Some will come out in profit, some will come out at a loss. None should lose everything (unless they're really unlucky). Taking it one step further... Imagine the $10 prize pool is split into 1,000 x $0.01 bets, like spins on a slot machine where with these payouts guaranteed: x1 = 1-in-6 = $0.01 x2 = 1-in-12 = $0.02 x10 = 1-in-60 = $0.10 x100 = 1-in-600 = $1 x1,000 = 1-in-6,000 = $10 x10,000 1-in-60,000 = $100 The top jackpot is guaranteed in 1 of every 60 games, and that doesn't include the prizes from the other 999 'spins' in that game. 1-in-6 games will have the $10 prize included. If the developer includes a house edge e.g. 5%, the prize pool would become $9.50, and that's how the dev makes money. - No token is then required. - Players can play with USDC and win USDC. - Prize distribution and deterministic payouts can be on-chain. If you add a token it can be super-charged: bigger prizes, tournaments, referral fees e.g. 5% (or more) of users spend goes to the referrer - a powerful user-acquisition tool. However, it doesn't escape the same old problem of trader speculation and the inevitable price collapse, but the upside is you can always revert back to stable coins. The question is do the play-to-earn crowd want to play these types of game? Is it a subset of that audience or a completely different one? Time will tell. One thing is clear is the old model is broken and something has to change.

Have you been collecting Gnomes? 👀 You might be glad you did… Some of them may have a… special connection to the blooms. 🌺 If you own a Gnome Key, See, Hear, Speak, or OG you might want to keep them close… 👀 No gnome? More curious companions could appear soon. 💜
