The event was held in Cape Town,where journalists from around the world gathered to experience the all-new Volkswagen Amarok. Here’s a refresher course, the second generation Amarok features a completely new front-end design that clearly distinguishes it from its predecessor. Viewed from the front, it presents a bold and imposing appearance, highlighted by a redesigned radiator grille and a centrally positioned Volkswagen badge. Across the range, the Amarok comes standard with LED headlights, while higher-specification models offer IQ.Light LED Matrix headlights with distinctive LED daytime running lights, similar to those found on Volkswagen's latest models. Integrated LED fog lights are also available on selected higher trim levels. Depending on the trim, the lower front bumper is finished in either a silver or black-grey appearance, further enhancing the vehicle's rugged and premium character. The Style, PanAmericana, 222KW , and Aventura derivatives feature a chrome strip extending across the grille, adding a distinctive visual signature. On this V6-powered PanAmericana model we had on expedition , a prominent chrome V6 emblem serves as a reminder of the performance beneath the bonnet. The Amarok nomenclature is engraved into the front bumper, with the branding becoming even more pronounced on the PanAmericana model. Lower trim levels feature a black grille design paired with LED headlights, while higher trims receive additional chrome detailing and more advanced lighting technology. When you think all is Done and Dusted(Day 5) as what it is on the Agenda, then think again. The @VolkswagenSA Adventure was practically starting up, and in the worst possible way. While the Amarok’s were clean and on their way to the airport for our various departure points, we incidentally came across an incident just 84km away from Gqeberha, and the route was completely blocked due to a truck on the tarmac. Seeing time was against us and we could potentially miss our flights, we were given instructions to drive back( 52km), and then use the gravel road(P400) which extended for a 100km loop. The Volkswagen Amarok in a 2.0L TDI guise(125kW/405Nm) proved yet again that numbers might not be a container of all and the unplanned detour of the terrain( proved how frugal the bakkie/ute/truck) this is against all the odds and unplanned activities. #AmarokAdventure2026 #Amarok4xForce #75YearsofVolkswagen

I am pleased to report that my inaugural journey into South Africa's immediate borders within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) has commenced. Despite possessing three full M-Visas, I had never ventured into any SADC country prior to this trip. However, @VolkswagenSA and @VWGAnews have now facilitated this transition, effectively bridging the gap. This marks Day 2/5 of the Amarok Adventure 2026. The event, themed around #Amarok4xForce and #75YearsofVolkswagen, proved to be the most satisfying automotive experience I have had the privilege to attend. The excursion featured 10 Amarok vehicles navigating diverse mountain terrains, characterized by rocky inclines, hills, and cliffs, which posed considerable challenges. Nonetheless, all vehicles successfully completed the challenge, covering over 200km on the day. The journey entailed driving from the Premier hotel to the foot of Sani Pass, a 14 km drive, followed by approximately 27 km of winding ascent up the pass, necessitating the use of various driving modes (4A, 4H, 4L, 2H) due to changing tarmac conditions. Upon crossing the Lesotho border, the road smoothed out en route to Black Mountain Pass, which boasts an elevation peak of 3240m above sea level, rendering it the highest point in the Southern Hemisphere. Consequently, Lesotho experiences more snowfall than any other country in the region. The Volkswagen Amarok derivatives demonstrated remarkable composure in tackling the demanding terrain, with the 10-speed gearbox and 21-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires providing substantial grip on slippery surfaces. The most formidable challenge arose during the descent through Sani Pass, where the dominant gear of choice was 4L, owing to short, rocky descent angles and drops that required precise technical gearing for braking. The Amarok's infotainment system proved invaluable in this regard, offering an off-road view that facilitated obstacle detection. I anticipate that Day 3 may pose similar challenges, and I look forward to discovering the details of tomorrow's adventure. #AmarokAdventure2026 #Amarok4xForce #75YearsofVolkswagen
