There are no BAD kids! There are kids who: -have been traumatized -have little hope for the future -have never experienced success, love or joy -have been repeatedly disappointed by adults -have not learned how to regulate their emotions It is NEVER too late to help a kid who is struggling! #MaslowBeforeBloom #WhateverItTakesForKids

Practicing self-compassion may be helpful right now for strength, coping, and resilience. A while back I chatted with @self_compassion about some exercises for directing compassion inwards. Kristin is a pioneer in the field of self-compassion research and a co-developer of the empirically supported training program "Mindful Self-Compassion." In an episode of my Checking In podcast with @TEDTalks , she guided us on some self-soothing exercises and unpacked the research on why this approach is so important. I hope these exercises might make you feel supported wherever you are today. I found them so powerful. Listen here: susandavid.com/podcast/self-…
