ALT A few days ago, Unity, the company that owns the game engine we use to develop Forever Ago, announced upcoming changes to its pricing model. These changes are highly unfavorable and unpredictable for developers as they introduce a separate fee based on game installations by end users. Unity refuses to make transparent how they plan to track this metric reliably. Additionally, this install-based model has no top end, threatening the existence of many studios. By the time of this post, Unity has failed to address any of the concerns. We stand in solidarity with all the Unity devs. Our trust in Unity's management is lost, regardless of whether they reverse these changes. And still, that is what we are demanding because it is the least they can do to keep their product and this community alive. It will not undo the damage that has been done, but at least it will not actively cause more harm. In any case, developing another game in Unity will be a hard sell for us in the future.
