A family of Common Loons are out on a morning cruise, with one chick hitching a ride. It’s typical for loons to have just two young.

An Osprey has captured a sunfish, and is likely taking it to a nest full of hungry young ones. When ospreys carry fish, they position them facing forward, aerodynamically.

Label this image “rock concert.” A male Bobolink is singing from atop a rock pile in the middle of a field. Bobolinks are talkative birds. Their song is often described as “bubbly.”

This is a close-up of a Common Loon’s eye. It’s blood-red and very striking. The loon’s eye speaks to the viewer; you decide what it says. Look closely at the reflection in the loon’s eye and you'll see the photographer standing in waist-deep water.

The right has a “terrifying” new weapon: Beautiful women Because the right celebrates beauty as much as the left worships failure. Considering young women are the only demographic that still votes Woke, if the left loses them it’s game over.

Yesterday morning (June 2) merganser chicks left a nesting box on my acreage and I missed the event. Here’s an image from the past showing what I missed; a one-day-old chick sporting a spiffy hairdo about to leap into a big new world.

A Common Loon is just settling down on its two eggs during incubation. Note how far back the legs and giant webbed feet are located on its body, an adaptation that allows it be a powerful swimmer, but very clumsy on land.

A male American Kestrel is delivering a shrew to it’s young in a nesting box. Kestrels are the smallest American falcon - about the size of a blue jay. They are cavity nesters, and readily adapt to manmade nesting boxes.

Grabbed a few snaps of a Buff-bellied Hummingbird that has been around the yard over the last week. Seems to love feeding on the Turk's Cap shrub. I guess it can't resist those red blooms. #CorpusChristiTX #Birds
