This is Melonpi the face behind viral Meowl the owl cat. Meowl image was created in 2013 when Melonpi was very young. A lot of people were concerned about what happened to Meolnpi and whether she was still alive. We are very happy to tell you that we got in touch with the owner, and as she said: "My cat and I are both doing well, she just celebrated her 17th birthday on March 27th this year. Thank you for your concern; she is doing great." The owner also wanted to thank all of us for loving support and all the memes created. She is very happy to have a community that shares love for Meowl. We both came to the conclusion that instead of donating money to Melonpi's owner, we should help animals in need. We will be happy to do so and we will keep you guys informed. Stay tuned for more updates.

Mediální (ne)pokrytí dění v Íránu je ostudou zpravodajství! Írán mám rád, procestovali jsme ho přes couchsurfing od Teheránu do Šírazu včetně nábožensky konzervativního Qomu. Celou dobu jsme přitom pobývali u místních a se spoustou z nich se spřátelili. Takže vím, jak tam ty lidi dychtí po svobodě, protože ty příběhy byly fakt šílený. Jak chodí mladí hrát na kytaru a pít alkohol na čundry do hor, protože tam nejsou policajti a práskači. Jak si holky vždycky svobodně oddychnou, když přijdou domů a můžou si sundat nenáviděný šátek z hlavy. Jak taxikáři jezdí v neklimatizovaných starých rozpálených šunkách se zavřenými okýnky, aby vám mohli pustit západní hudbu, která se tam nesmí. Jak vám tam někdo nabídne ve sklepě tradiční perské víno s dodatkem, že mu za to hrozí trest smrti, kdybychom to někde řekli. Jak největší nadšenou rebelií pro dva kluky, co jsme potkali, bylo, že jsme šli pouští ve 40 stupních do půl těla, i když je to tam zakázané. Jak když jsme seděli s jednou holčinou v parku bez šátku, tak na nás hned naběhl mravnostní fízl. Nebo jak mě jeden průvodce napomenul, ať si nedělám srandu v souvenir shopu z portrétu Chomejního, jinak nás všechny zavřou... Málo se to ví, ale Írán má jednu z nejmladších populací. Je to doslova země mladých lidí. A koho jsme potkali, tak ten nesnášel režim a chtěl žít svobodně. No a když teď za tu svobodu prolévají krev, tak média mají vůbec problém o tom zásadněji referovat (čest výjimkám). Fakt mě to mrzí hned ze dvou důvodů. Jednak vůči Íráncům a jednak z hlediska toho, že takhle se média sama připravují o důvěru.
