Girl to girl: study the patterns in your family. Look at what distracted, delayed, or derailed the women before you, then make intentional decisions to break those cycles. refuse to be a victim of generational curses ❤️

What bothers me most about Karmelo Anthony’s verdict? First-degree murder means the jury feels Karmelo viciously attacked Austin, a total stranger to him, in an intentional, deliberate rage. They’re saying that he set out to purposefully kill someone he didn’t know, over a bleacher seat, in the middle of a chaperoned high school event. Even if the jury decided Karmelo still needed to accept some level of guilt in a life being lost — a 35-year prison sentence and a first degree murder-conviction means the jury doesn’t see this as the tragic, tragic mistake between two young teens that it is. They’re telling us Karmelo set out to end Austin’s life on purpose and with full intent. When in reality, I think this is a regret and heartbreak Karmelo will carry for the rest of his life
Community note
Texas has no "first-degree murder" charge; a murder conviction requires only intentionally or knowingly causing death, or intending serious bodily injury and committing an act clearly dangerous to human life that causes death, without premeditation or "deliberate rage." statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/PE/htm/PE… thetexastrialattorney.com/degrees-of-mur…

The justice system is flawed. There is no justice for black people in a system that has always been meant to keep us oppressed, depressed and enslaved (physically and mentally). Ain’t no way…

That poor baby boy. I don’t even have the bandwidth to articulate my thoughts on the he verdict against Karmelo Anthony. Just profound sadness for another black boy lost to the system.

Trayvon Martin case really opened my eyes to the justice system and how messed up it was. I'll NEVER forget that shit

35 years on your first offense is over sentencing. Yea there has to be a retrial. This is blatant injustice.
Community note
Karmelo Anthony was found guilty of murder, not a standard "first offense" misdemeanor. Under Texas law, a first-degree murder conviction carries a sentence of 5 to 99 years or life in prison. The 35-year sentence falls well within legal guidelines. tpr.org/news/2026-06-0…

This Karmelo Anthony verdict being found guilty right after a Chinese man was found innocent after chasing a black kid down and killing him should tell you everything you need to know about what our priorities should be in these United States

My heart goes out to Black teenagers who are disregarded as if they know nothing in most businesses but treated as adults in the criminal justice system, because it’s convenient for racists.

This is why we continue to speak Latasha Harlins name.
A jury in Columbia, South Carolina, tonight acquitted a former gas station owner of murder for fatally shooting a teenage boy he chased after falsely accusing him of shoplifting. The boy had a gun, but prosecutors say he never displayed it before he was shot.
