Diomande is quick, very very quick. His rhythm changes are a complete nightmare to deal with for any defender 1v1 But I think what's also impressive is how he uses his arms as a leverage tool to beat his man with power at high speed

I'm excited to see how Guéla Doué and Bazoumana Toure perform for Côte d'Ivore tonight, two players I've liked for some time

Netherlands could do with a Right-winger that can occupy pockets between the Japan defence and midfield Summerville wants to play 1v1 against their wide defender which means Dumfries can't make effective overlapping runs which he's good at

They need a Steven Berghuis profile, but I don't think they have that in their squad The 'closest' they have to that potentially is Guus Til but it isn't ideal as he isn't a wide player

Emma Hayes has been an excellent addition to ITV World Cup insight, provides great insight

In possession, Germany players have been tightly connected with one another with their defensive line also squeezing the pitch. This is so they anticipate the counter-press when they give the ball away by taking a risk Curacao have instantly looked to bypass the counter-press with passes in behind. Curacao exposed the space behind the German line very well for their goal!

That reverse pass from Nathaniel Brown that got Germany in behind to begin with was beautiful! The disguise from the hips was excellent One touch finish from Nmecha too, wow! 👏

Looking forward to seeing how this Germany team performs!

Scotland put in a balanced performance against Haiti • Defensively solid in the 4-4-2 block • Carried a fair threat on counters and transitions They can probably work on being more effective with their chances in attack. But considering this is their first win at a major tournament (Euros or World Cup) in forever, getting over the line with a win is positive for them The question for Scotland now would be how they compete against Morocco and Brazil, because in comparison to Haiti I'd expect those two to be much braver in playing into tight pockets of space and playing quick combinations

John McGinn is excellent at protecting the ball, slowing the play right down and then turn away from danger to attack vertically Uses his body very well in duels

I'm watching back the Scotland game, looks like a midfield diamond in possession?

I said this about Bouaddi back in August in an @AttackingFooty article Good to see people are recognising his abilities now

The thing I love about Ayyoub Bouaddi is that he is a quality all-rounder. He can pass, can carry, can create, can duel all to a fairly good standard He's had a positive start so far for Morocco

Some examples of the intended off-ball movements USA used to create space • Back three build-up; Right-back tucks inside with the Right-winger providing width • Winger comes short to 'bait' the marker that he will receive • As the winger moves short, attacking midfielder makes in-to-out run between left centre-back and left-back

Off-ball movements have been really impressive from Pochettino's USA! The full-back and wingers on either side have good synergy and connection; If the winger is wide, the full-back attacks inside When the full-back moves inside, for example Antonee Robinson, to give the winger the freedom of the flank, for example Pulisic, it gives the winger license to drag their marker short which then enables one of the midfielders to make runs from deep

The same idea but with the winger and attacking midfielder playing different 'roles' • Attacking midfielder moves all the way across to the wide channel space • Weston McKennie instructs Sergiño Dest to move inside Big space is then created which on this occasion wasn't used

Similar idea again on the far side • Antonee Robinson is holding width towards the touchline • Christian Pulisic operates inside As the ball shifts across to the far-side • Robinson looks to anticipate on the touchline • Pulisic drops deeper with the inside role The result? Space in behind for a midfielder to attack with the in-to-out run
