Some of the tools I used were Houdini for the terrain gen, specifically @samuel_krug 's KTT tools, blender, Nuke for all the compositing and Davinci for the final grade.

Compositing is very crucial part of the VFX. it's save lot of time fixing bad render, frame glitch, noise render without re-rendering. in this side by side you can clearly see how much you can push the render.
