The seasoned team defunqt, recently back in action, took an impressive second place after defeating numerous formidable teams, while MMM narrowly missed second place, taking third by a slim margin. Additionally, congratulations to 星爆牛炒竹狐 for winning the Taiwan Star Award! 【HITCON CTF Finals Team Introduction Part I】 As the competition draws near, let’s introduce this year’s teams! First up, here are the top 1 to 4 teams from the qualifications 1. Friendly Maltese Citizens Friendly Maltese Citizens (commonly known as The Merger) consists of teams Project Sekai, idek, ARESx, Emu Exploit, SEE, Arr3stY0u, and DeadSec with the goal of qualifying for DEFCON CTF . Additionally, the team is known for having members from team mvm, the winner of Hack Fortress @ DEFCON 32. 2. Blue Water Blue Water is a collaboration team between perfect blue and Water Paddler. It was established shortly after DEFCON 2022, with the goal to win first place on big CTF competitions. The team won second place on DEFCON CTF 2024 and it is their second time in HITCON CTF Finals. 3. thehackerscrew The hackers that screw 4. TokyoWesterns TokyoWesterns is a Japanese CTF team playing CTFs intermittently. Originally our team was formed at the end of 2014 with some students of a university located on the western side of Tokyo but not limited so far, and we are welcoming more members. Most of the members were students when we were playing CTFs actively in 2015-2019 though, the situation that they have less time to participate after getting jobs and COVID-19 not allowing travel for on-site finals made us inactive. Recently some CTFs are back to normal operation with on-site finals. It is a good time for us to be active again. #HITCON #CTF #Finalists
