The Anatomy of a Winner: How Deyemi Okanlawon Turned Early Struggles into Transnational Stardom Acclaimed Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has shared a deeply inspiring personal reflection following his third win at the Ghana Movie Awards. Dressed in a sharp @dejiandkola ensemble, the actor recalled his first, financially strained trip to Ghana years ago, where he could barely afford travel costs but took a "reckless" leap of faith to attend the same awards show. The actor wrote on his social media: "Standing on the stage of this year’s Ghana Movie Awards brought back memories of my first trip to Ghana many years ago. There were no awards waiting for me then. No red carpets. No acceptance speeches. Heck, nobody even knew my name. I was just a young actor chasing a dream with more ambition than resources. @ameyaw112 had offered to get me an invite to the GMAs, but there was one major problem: I didn’t have enough to cover travel & accommodation. I went anyway. Looking back, that decision seems reckless but at the time, it felt necessary. I refused to let a lack of comfort become a reason to miss an opportunity. I believed that if I kept showing up, things would eventually work out. Like so many young creatives, I was navigating an industry where opportunities often arrived before financial stability. The journey was filled with uncertainty, and the distance between where I was and where I wanted to be often felt overwhelming. What I have learned since then is that success rarely begins under ideal conditions. Many of the opportunities that shape our lives arrive disguised as discomfort, sacrifice, and risk. They test how committed we are to our goals. Over the years, Ghana has become a special part of my journey. It has given me opportunities to collaborate, grow, build meaningful relationships, and tell stories that cross borders. Returning now to receive a 3rd Ghana Movie Award is something I deeply appreciate. This award reminds me that the difficult seasons matter. The moments when nobody is watching matter. Moves you can barely afford, doors that stay closed for a while, and the choice to keep going despite uncertainty all matter. If you’re in a season where the dream feels bigger than your circumstances, keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep moving. One day, you may find yourself living a moment that once seemed impossible. Thanks Ghana, @ghanamovieawards & all who have been part of this journey. Congrats to all nominees & winners who continue to raise the standard of African storytelling. The journey continues." Using his journey to motivate a new generation of creatives, Okanlawon emphasized that success rarely starts under ideal conditions and urged young talent to embrace discomfort, take risks, and keep showing up until their dreams become reality. @_deyemi #mynationblog #mnbtheessentials #deyemitheactor #nollywood #ghanaaward #entertainmentnews

God bless Ladipo Oke for telling us this at age 22. Promiscuity is the worst habit a man can ever have. It is the hardest to break and it takes the most valuable resource you have, which is your time. The loss compounds faster when you are impoverished by it.
womanizing is a more expensive vice than cocaine

I remember a day I had a big f!ght with my hubby. I knew I was wrong, but as usual I was claiming tough girl😂😂 It took us 3 days and the issue was becoming serious. I started praying serious prayers o. I was like "God please touch my man's heart so he won't be angry at me again and let's reconcile" I was praying this prayer everyday but the matter was even becoming worse😂 We didn't talk for days. I kept praying. When I was supposed to humble myself and just apologize. I was praying😁😁 I'm laughing because each time I remember this scenario,I always tell myself that we have the power in our hands to make some things work. That's how on valentine's day,I just wrote him a long text apologising and I reassured him of my love and loyalty. Immediately he read the message, he reached out and was like "Babe I'm so sorry too, I took everything too far, I miss you "😂 Haaaaa!!! Almost 4 days of fight I prayed and only an apology solved it. The bottom line is this, there are so many broken homes that wouldn't have been broken if only we humble ourselves and talk things over. Ego and pride has really d£stroyed so many homes and it's so sad. There is a place for prayer. Maybe for a sickness, prayer for divine intervention or maybe a change of character, prayers for a good job or a contract and if there will be prayers for such issues, it should be a joint and agreement prayer with both couples heart involved🤲 So the answer is NO, prayers can't fix every marriage problem. Some require humility, our work, our logic and our sincerity to handle it.
Can prayer fix every marriage problem?¿

Your SPOUSE is the one who'll sit beside you when your PARENTS DIE. who'll hold your hand through CHILDBIRTH. who might have to BATHE YOU if you're ever too sick to stand. this isn't just about BUTTERFLIES or DATE NIGHTS. it's about choosing someone who SHOWS UP... in GRIEF, in MESS, in UNCERTAINTY. so no, LOVE ALONE isn't enough. COMMITMENT, MATURITY, and the ability to ENDURE life's ugly parts... that's what sustains a MARRIAGE. because when life gets PAINFULLY REAL, ROMANCE won't carry you... CHARACTER will. and the truth is, FOREVER is only possible with someone who knows how to STAY when it's HARD TO LOVE.

10 days since my first movie got released and it’s been one of the most talked about movies this year. A lot of people still haven’t watched because they do not believe that someone could excellently write, produce, direct and play the lead at the same time, in a movie at 23. Well, this appreciation goes to God and the believers. The ones who believed in a young boy’s dreams enough to come out and watch his film. The ones who loved it and have been talking about it. The ones who have shown support in any form, I’m so grateful. Thank you 🙏 Despite the terrible showtimes, despite cinemas refusing to show the film, etc. we are still moving strong. Thank you God for keeping your word. This is God’s Film. To every young filmmaker, let this be your sign. You can do this. I’m rooting for you. Please keep coming out to watch THE BOY WHO GAVE in all cinemas. I love you ❤️ #AllisonTheLight #TheBoyWhoGave

Imagine if govt maps vacant properties & sets real rates (not Banana Island prices). Citizens can report an empty mansion on their street to get first right of refusal to rent. Owners get tax rebates, etc as compensation. Problem is it's the same pol class who own the houses!
