Let's put this in terms the masses can understand: imagine handing your entire cache of hand sani and Lysol over to the coronavirus. This is how I feel when people tell me to turn my guns in to the gov. Why would I give up the thing that can effectively keep the threat at bay?

And to go past that, why would I trust the thing that is the threat enough to trust it to protect me from itself rather than just protecting myself? It makes no sense.
And before you point out the problem with my analogy, yes, I do realize the gov is infinitely more dangerous.

I love how everybody acts like volunteerism (or anarchy) is such an extreme idea. Do you believe that all human interactions should be consensual? That people shouldn't hurt each other or take each others stuff? If you said yes without following with "but", guess what you are.

All we wanted was a peaceful protest. We won't be the ones to escalate, but we also cannot stand by and have our rights violated. I strongly suggest you think hard and consider the opinions of your constituents, who you're supposed to represent, before continuing down this path.

We have received credible intelligence from our law enforcement agencies of threats of violence surrounding the demonstration planned for Monday, January 20. This includes extremist rhetoric similar to what has been seen before major incidents, such as Charlottesville in 2017.
