In fact - the encouraging part is the Knicks have built a team and culture where someone like Ihart had to make a tough decision to take $30 mill a year with a contender over $16 mill a year with us… Knicks are legit and will be legit even if Ihart in OKC

So you are just trying to save Dolan money? There is no “gun to our head” - any good player that the Knicks can realistically get would require a lot of money - would you feel more comfortable paying BI 5/200? Taking on Lavines 3/150? Paying PG 4/200 extension?

If the Knicks didn’t trade for OG to pay him 5/200, they would have traded for PG to pay him 5/200…. Knicks have a superstar PG and are close to contending, big defensive wings are a must and cost a premium

You can still improve the team through trades - Randle isn’t untouchable (neither is OG btw if the right deal comes along at some point), Mitch, Bogie, picks etc… you can also get lucky and find the “next IQ” in the draft… JB also may take less $$ (not counting on it)
