I don’t like getting very sales-y but It’s tools like this that we build entirely in the open at @vexxhost to both help the community and improve the type of public and private cloud services we offer for all our clients. nothing behind closed-source walls.
I spent the day building a small project which configured tempest automatically using python-tempestconf, ran @OpenStack Tempest and took the subunit results and pushed them to a @PrometheusIO push gateway: opendev.org/vexxhost/tempest…

Start with0⃣. Scale on demand.📈 The latest Magnum update lets you deploy control plane–only #k8s clusters and autoscale node groups down to zero. No idle workers. No wasted compute. @_mnaser explains how - vexxhost.com/blog/introducin…

I can't wait to finally port all of our code to just plain o'l Rust (and anything that interacts with Python through PyO3). Everything is just so much faster, and uses so much less resources. One of those days I'll write up something for the TC to open up Rust in OpenStack.

We're doing a lot with Rust these days, part of that is working on a strong FRR-K8S OVN integration for exposing floating IPs over BGP. One of the steps is building a OVSDB crate: crates.io/crates/ovsdb-clien… We've got that shipped now with crates with helper crates. The helper crates are useful for the ability of building strong typed Rust structs that get serialized and deserialized to the RFC7047 spec. Next up, get this going and build a lightweight, reliable and fast agent to sync these floating IPs to BGP.

I've been building Rust bindings for OVSDB, thanks to existing tooling the JSONRPC part has been nice and easy, but I've spent a stupid amount of time on sets because the RFC says: Either an <atom>, representing a set with exactly one element, or a 2-element JSON array that represents a database set value. Why couldn't we just have a list of a single item instead of just a single item, and needing to figure out if it's a list or not _based on the schema_.

I think there is a lot of future of @rustlang in OpenStack for us to make things a lot more reliable and fast. The work by Artem in the rust ecosystem is pretty game changer. github.com/gtema/openstack We're pledging to sponsor his work for at least a year in @github sponsors!

Most migrations = downtime. MigrateKit flips the script. At #OIDNA 2024, @_mnaser broke down how MigrateKit moves workloads to @OpenStack while keeping VMs online. How? Watch the full recap to find out. 🎥 youtu.be/AmQelZT_4TQ?si=-CcF…
