I have detected two essays AI generated in my unit. Do I simply confront the students or fail them on the lack of merit (because AI was clearly not in my class and does not engage with unit material)?

Time and again I have come across scholars misspelling Gandhi. And it is the same misspelling-"H" is moved forward, before "a" and just after "G". So it is "Ghandi". I am curious to know why/how this (mis)spelling became an accepted one?
