Next year we have another round of big elections here in Mississippi, and announcements are being made already as campaigns are kicking off. Over the last couple months, I’ve been told by people that I trust that my name has been mentioned for several statewide and district wide offices. While it is certainly an honor to be considered, I want everyone to know that I will be running for reelection to the State Senate next year. We have had a lot of success in Mississippi and in District 51 these past several years, and I plan to continue to build on that success.
I sincerely hope - and I humbly ask, that you will support me for reelection next year. I know this announcement seems early, but I did not want my name to get into the mix of other offices without letting my constituents know my intentions. I will continue to work hard for you and for our community, and I thank you all for this opportunity.

State Rep. Jansen Owen will not be seeking re-election to his House District 106 seat next year, choosing instead to run for District Attorney for the 15th Circuit Court District which includes Marion, Pearl River, Lamar, and Walthall counties.
