In your investing journey, make sure you have an investment journal. Every mistake you make, write it down. Sold too early? Write it down. Bought without proper research? Write it down. Let emotions influence your decision? Write it down. At the same time, write down your wins too. Your biggest gain, your best investment decision, or that stock you held patiently and it rewarded you. Document both the good and the bad, and make it a habit to go through them regularly. Over time, you’ll notice that you’re making better decisions and becoming less emotional in the market because you’re learning from your own experience. Trust me, this simple habit can make a huge difference in your investing journey.

I slept off early yesterday and missed the US market activity. Woke up this morning to see my portfolio sitting above €107k in profit. $AMD and $MU drove it. Wtf! The US market is a wealth transfer machine for patient investors. 6 years in the game, multiple corrections, portfolio reshuffles, and staying invested through uncertainty… now it’s paying off. I’m proud of myself 🥂

Before you buy any Nigerian bank stock, check its non-performing loan ratio. Before you buy any manufacturer, check its debt-to-equity ratio. Before you buy any oil company, check its production cost per barrel. The numbers tell the story. Stop buying stocks because someone on Twitter said so.

how to build a shariah-compliant portfolio from ₦50,000 1: open a cscs-linked brokerage account. you can use apps like chaka, bamboo, trove, or broker-backed platforms like meritrade and stanbic e-trade. these platforms give you access to the ngx. 2: use shariah screening criteria to identify 3–5 permissible stocks. 3: allocate proportionally and buy what your budget can realistically absorb after fees, even if the weights are uneven. 4: set up a monthly investment plan and build positions gradually. small amounts compound significantly over time. 5: review shariah status, financial health, and portfolio balance monthly. compliance is a continous process, not a one-off checkbox.
