I understand why some people were upset. Following a controversial account is not something people have to dismiss lightly, especially when certain accounts or views can hurt, offend, or make others feel unsafe. I will not pretend people are wrong for feeling uncomfortable about it.
At the same time, I also believe people are allowed to learn, reflect, correct themselves, and grow. When someone takes a step back, changes their action, and becomes more mindful afterward, I think that should matter too. It does not erase the mistake, but it should still count for something.
What feels unfair is how this old issue keeps being brought up when it was supposed to be done and solved already.
It often comes from the same or similar accounts that have repeatedly shown dislike toward him, which makes it hard to believe the intention is still accountability.
At some point, it stops looking like concern and starts looking like a convenient weapon to drag him whenever people need a reason to attack him.
Silence can look disappointing from the outside, but please do not mistake it for indifference.
He could be reading all of this too.
Silence could also translate into I am trying to be careful and refuse to turn accountability into fandom ammunition.
I can support someone and still understand why people were disappointed.
I can acknowledge a mistake without reducing his entire growth to that mistake.
I can care about accountability without joining endless dragging.
Supporting does not mean pretending everything is perfect.
It means being fair enough to see the mistake, the correction, the growth, and the person beyond it.
