ALT WSC # 10 – Tumors, Tumors and More Tumors!
The 10th Wednesday Slide Conference is in the books! This weeks moderator was Dr. Rebecca Smedley, Senior Academic specialist at the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Michigan State University, and a renowned expert in veterinary neoplasia in domestic species.
Dr. Smedley gave an outstanding two-hour preconference on one of her areas of expertise, melanomas in small animals, which was greatly appreciated by our staff and residents as these tumors are one of our more common tumor submissions, year in and year out, and an extensive review of new and changing diagnostic and prognostic criteria is always appreciated!
The conference included – the clear cell variant of hepatocellular carcinoma in a sheep, a mixed germ cell tumor in the testis of a dog, a double whammy of adrenocortical adenoma and a pheochromocytoma in a dog, and finally, a metastatic balloon cell melanoma in the spleen of a dog.
