Waited in the rain to meet Henry Rollins 21 years ago. I was nervous and awkward, and held out my ticket for him to sign without saying a word. He looked at the ticket, then at me, and before signing shook my hand instead. “Hey, I’m Henry, thanks for coming out.”

A big part of my punk rock origin story, but at the time it was also an eye opening lesson in how to treat people (especially the weird ones) like people and not just transactions. I still think about it all the time. Thanks @henryrollins.
