I made a bunch of new levels for Fracas 3, and it was fun making decorations for some of the rooms, using my primitive level editor.
I updated the powerup effects to be juicier and more informative, too.

ALT The player, an angry-looking face on a circle body, smolders with powerupedness as it races upwards through a chamber decorated with sculptures on pedestals and a little hanging lamp, in a primitive pixel-art style. An enormous sleeping head (also a circle with a simple face) looms above.
Yeah, I was dating someone, but I had to break it off when I found out they were sneaking into graveyards and digging up dead bodies. You know what they say, "exhume" makes an "ex" out of "u" and "me".
#screenshotsaturday Here's a tutorial level from my prototype "Bridge Wizard" game. The main lesson here is that pieces can go up.
ALT Animated gif where a red pentomino bar moves and rotates through a small blue labyrinth, on the way to a red altar. When it lands on the altar, the chain of red pieces vanish. The blue walls that were supported by the red pieces fall straight down, and then they disappear too.
I wanted to make a small tetromino-based game prototype using my existing "framework", which is really just for physics-y 2D-scrolling cave-blaster games. So I decided to make a little prototyping-friendly library, and it seems dumb but I'm really excited about this.
I added ADSR (attack, decay, sustain, release) to my sound engine. Then I messed around and made a fresh new Blaster firing noise, kinda THRRRRMP THRRRRMP, halfway between an energy weapon and an alarm. It's so satisfying to find a good sound.

This is not the kind of infinite loop to which I am accustomed. I think I know how to make it impossible, but it's fun while it lasts, and it lasts forever. #screenshotsaturday
ALT A video-game character is surrounded by a wall of skulls which are exploding and regenerating in an infinite orbiting loop.
ALT 2D top-down videogame scene. A round player character (basically a face) is confronted by a narrow passage blocked by toxic glowing mushrooms. They shoot an arrow at one, and the mushroom bursts in a small cloud, setting off a chain reaction of popping 'shrooms, clearing the passage. The player advances, avoiding the mushrooms as they pop back up behind them.
#screenshotsaturday I've improved the level editor a ton. There are level image previews, and you can select and re-arrange levels and adventures. And now, finally, you can play custom adventures from the main game menu. aaryte.itch.io/fracas3
ALT A level editor menu, showing a custom adventure, with seven levels. One level is highlighted, and a button bar at the bottom lists lots of applicable actions: Edit, Test, Left, Right, Cline, Insert New, Delete, and Undelete.
ALT A game menu, prompting the player to select up to four players, each with its own controls. Below that is a list of four adventures, with one selected. The "Play!" button beckons.
