b2b gtm advice: “make sure you’re selling to the person in the org who actually buys! 😇🍭” b2c gtm advice: “look. if you put enough layers between you and the undisclosed paid promos there’s plausible deniability. plus how will they know? it’s literally undisclosed. go all in on brainrot so you can target the most vulnerable populations. this is war. if someone on gtm does a single legal thing, fire them. hire killers only. yes, actual killers. find them before the police do and offer protection conditional on them running UGC farms. set up a free grocery store or something."

Walking a funny line of trying to blame Anthropic’s marketing, but also saying their model is in fact too powerful, but also promising they want to return Fable for wide release ASAP so please don’t blow up AI stocks
I’ve had a number of conversations with folks inside and outside government about the current situation with Anthropic, and here is what I believe to be true: — As we know, Anthropic publicly released its Mythos class models earlier this week under the commercial name Fable. — Fable is Mythos with guardrails. But if those guardrails fail, then you’ve exposed Mythos and its advanced cyber capabilities to people who shouldn’t have them. (Keep in mind that Anthropic itself widely promoted the idea that Mythos was a cyberweapon and needed to be regulated as such. They asked for government regulation of Mythos and championed the guardrails on Fable. If there is a vulnerability — big or small — it is Anthropic’s responsibility to patch.) — A highly credible trusted partner of both Anthropic and the USG who was testing Fable came forward with a jailbreak of those guardrails. The Admin asked Dario to fix the jailbreak or de-deploy the model. Dario refused. — In their blog post, Anthropic defended its decision by saying the jailbreak isn’t serious. That is not what the trusted partner and the USG believe; nor is that kind of minimizing language consistent with Anthropic’s brand as the AI safety company. It’s difficult to fathom how they could claim a jailbreak allowing operability of a cyber weapon could be defined as not “serious.” — In the past, Anthropic has always said that safety must be top priority and taken super seriously. In this case, Anthropic prioritized the continued offering of the consumer model over safety. — In reaction, the Admin issued the export control. The Admin did this reluctantly. It’s been very surprised that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to cooperate with a reasonable safety request (ie fixing the jailbreak issue). Anthropic’s reaction is very much at odds with their branding and ethos as a safe AI research community. — The Admin’s hope now is that Anthropic remediates the safety issue, the export control is lifted, and Fable goes back into general release. The Admin wants all of this to happen as soon as possible. It is frankly bewildered that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to comply with safety requests that it previously said were its highest priority. — Those trying to misdirect and tie this action to the prior DoW/Anthropic issues are wrong. The Admin values Anthropic’s technical capabilities and feels that this issue, while serious, should be easily resolved. The ball is in Anthropic’s court.

apple is actually quite predictable. once you understand them you can figure out which tradeoffs they’ll make (and where theres going to be weakness to exploit). will apply going forwards with siri vs consumer ai startups
The strategy Spotify used to beat Apple: “We bet on three things. They were all counter positions to Apple deliberately. 1. Freemium. We believed that if Apple ever did a free product they would struggle to do advertising. We bet they wouldn't do a good free tier. And so we focused a lot on freemium and a really good free tier. 2. Personalization. I would almost say Apple was against data at the time. We bet that they would never get good at personalization recommendations. And we believed that was the future. 3. Ubiquity. We bet that they were going to prefer their own products and never get to be good on a Samsung TV or an Android phone. So these were our bets and they panned out really well.”

more like anthropic knew this was a possible outcome they had to take proactive measures to prevent.. and were being overcautious with their safety filters as to not give the admin any excuse to do the thing they just did anyways.. maybe everyone owes anthropic an apology..
It is so funny how anthropic just willingly forfeited the vibes frontier this week and then on Friday night the trump admin, which hates them, handed it right back to them

finding out fable spawned 100 fable subagents makes me feel like one of those parents who found out their kid spent thousands on microtransactions

how it feels to use Opus now
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

australians at the labs needed to be nerfed
Unless this changes, OpenAI researchers on visas need to plan for the fact they’ll probably lose access to internal models, and therefore their ability to do their jobs moving forward, sometime in the next couple months. I hope the company acts to prevent that.

i agree w this but also if your model is so smart then why don’t you trust it to not make EbolaCovid
I'm annoyed by the Fable 5 biosafety rules too, but guys, synthesizing novel viruses is actually very bad and you should be more worried about EbolaCovid than about being forced to use Opus 4.8 for a couple weeks. I think everyone needs to chill for a bit.

yeah this thing is SMART we’re going to be besties
Introducing Claude Fable 5: a Mythos-class model that we’ve made safe for general use. Its capabilities exceed those of any model we’ve ever made generally available.

If you are young person who just graduated college struggling to find a job, honestly, go work at a summer camp. No need to humiliate yourself clawing for the scraps of the old corporate world. Have a nice time playing outside while the new world is born
