Hi, #MathTwitter! I help organize the @theJRMF Community-Run Math Circle, which involves a fun math exploration (like the one below) on Zoom once a month, and we are looking for new facilitators! 🧵 (1/9)

Below is the text "Stack the cups into a single pole by moving 1 cup 1 position, a stack of 2 cups 2 positions... At which positions can you land the final pile?". Next to this text are a collection of cups stacked on spot 2 (of 6), with the order from bottom to top of 2, 5, 4, 6, 1, 3. Below the stacked cups is the starting point, featuring colourful cups in a row numbered from 1 to 6 above spaces that show the same number. The goal is to go from the cups in a line to a stacked set of cups.
today I discussed mathematical reasoning with a bunch of really great people, then walked up a mountain, and now I'm curled up in bed knitting while watching the snow fall – basically a dream day 🥰❄️🧶
We kept her as long as we could, but this Saturday @MargzettaF says her final goodbye to Pauley 🥺. One of the most consistent gymnasts in school history, Margzetta is a 4-time All-American and All-Pac-12 honoree and the 2021 Pac-12 bars champion. #ThankYouSeniors 💙💛
Knitting Mathematics!
(a few days ago I was planning out a blanket, and it led to an interesting question about Latin squares)

🚨NEW SURVEY🚨
We want to know how many recent (within 10yrs) & current graduate students are looking for career opportunities outside of Canada - and how their finances impact this 💰
Please take the time to fill out the survey now! 👇

ALT This is an advertisement for the OSPN survey on the mobility of Canadian graduate students. The text reads "Mobility of Canadian Graduate Students. A survey exploring the factors that impact students' choice to stay in or leave Canada". It has a dark red background, and the text is in lighter shades of red. There is a graphic in the bottom left corner of two people with graduation caps and carrying bags. They are looking at a globe as if deciding where to go.
Crikey, Canada 🇨🇦. Firstly the women taking bronze last year and securing an Olympic berth, and now the men qualifying for the Team Final and sending a team to the Olympics for the first time since 2008. That is nothing short of a stunning 12 months for their teams.
happy first day of classes to me, a wasp fell into my shoe on my way to teach my third (and last) class of the day and now my ankle is swollen and painful 🫠
UCLA: 2024 roster released (cont.)

This conference will feature some great public events, like Family Day at the Halifax Central Library, which incorporates: Hands-on workshops, Mathematical Poetry Reading, Short Film Festival, and a Mathematical Art Exhibition (Medjuck Hall) @hfxpublib
hiya Halifriends, I'll be at the Halifax Central Library @hfxpublib from 1-5pm TODAY (July 30) with a table in Paul O'Regan Hall about mathematical comics at the @BridgesMathart Family Day, come say hi!! (and maybe make a Möbius strip comic)

I wish I was recording my reactions but instead I am messaging @TammyRosner in the wee hours of her morning about how knowing 65,536 is a power of 2 helped me logic my way to an answer in the quiz portion
