At Acme, we give nicknames to some of our favourite typewriters. This wonderful, all-black, SM4 has earned the nickname: "King of Spades". It has the beautiful, sought-after Congress typeface. For many the Olympia SM4 is considered to be the "King of the Typewriters". #typewriter

This is the "Safari Model" of the famous Erika Model 10 #typewriter. In the early 1960s, Erika, Triumph, Adler and a few others came out with typewriters in this colour combination. We always think that these colours evoke ideas of the sands and incomparable vistas of Africa.

It makes a great compliment to the colourfully exuberant street-life in the painting behind it. The painting is by Babs, the "godfather" of street art in sub-Saharan Africa. Our new exhibition: "Arts de la Rue: Street Art from Ouagadougou" opens on Friday.

This beautiful Princess #typewriter is a Princess Standard, a model released in the mid-1960s to compete with the successful Hermes Baby. It has the same exceptionally fine mechanics of the Princess 300 (and 200 and 100) but was less expensive. Of course, available now at Acme.

A fine and rare Triumph Norm #typewriter. From 1943, in the middle of WW2, it is unusual in the QWERTY keyboard. Despite the war, non-German (QWERTZ) keyboards were produced for export, primarily to German-occupied Netherlands. This one was owned by a merchant in Amsterdam.

Completely original, this "Firehouse Red" 1950 S.I.M. #typewriter looked this way when it was made. It has not been repainted!
When people walk into our gallery the first reaction is usually: "How wild!", or some version of that sentiment in Dutch, French or Spanish.

For many #typewriter enthusiasts, the Halda Model P is the "holy grail" of typewriters due to an impeccable combination of elegant design, rich colour, rarity, and beautiful typing feel.
Acme has this one available now. It is in exceptional condition and has historic interest.

Don’t let the brand name fool you. The Princess 100 is a fantastic typewriter (in fact, ALL Princess typewriters are). Made in Germany in 1971, the P100 is a beautifully engineered machine, and typing on this all-metal ultra-portable tank is a joy.
